We are excited to be back in New York, exhibiting at the Winter Show which opens at the Park Avenue Armory on Friday.
Showcasing several significant recent discoveries, our exhibition will include major works by a diverse range of artists in oil, on paper and in marble. The powerful study of heads was made by Ozias Humphry on his trip to Lucknow in 1785. Ostensibly travelling as a miniaturist, Humphry collected material for a possible publication on the ‘dresses and manners of the people’ of which this is an immensely rare example. A notable highlight is a bust by Anne Seymour Damer of her mother, carved in 1789, it demonstrates both her ability as a sculptor in marble and skill as a neo-classical designer. These join oils by JMW Turner, John Constable and Joseph Wright of Derby and more. We hugely look forward to welcoming you to the Winter Show.
