This Summer our exhibition of new discoveries and recent acquisitions will be open in the gallery from Monday 22nd June to Friday 3rd July. Highlights include a magnificent, previously unpublished portrait drawing by John Brown; a ravishing grisaille pastel by Robert Healy and a pre-raphaelite masterpiece by Lucy Madox Brown Rossetti.

The daughter of Ford Madox Brown and later wife of William Michael Rossetti, Lucy's career has been overshadowed by her complex family circle. Exhibited at the Dudley Gallery in 1870, Après Le bal shows her to have been an unusually ambitious painter who created a highly compelling social commentary set in a richly observed aesthetic interior. In addition our exhibition includes a number of fresh works by James Thornhill, Richard Wilson, Thomas Gainsborough, Richard Cosway and John Flaxman.
